The Place
Nestled beneath the foot-hills of the beautiful Nilgiris mountains, below the picturesque town of Ooty which is at 7000-foot elevation (the highest point in southern India), amidst the dense Nilgiris jungles and next door to the world famous Bandipur wild life sanctuary, lies the beautiful Quiet Corner Campsite.
Known for its wonderful quiet atmosphere, scenic beauty, and great adventure. Quiet Corner Campsite is an excellent place for retreats, youth camps and conferences.
Climate
Moderate and pleasant throughout the year. The elevation is 3500 ft.
Accommodations
Quiet Corner can accommodate over 150 people sleeping with single, double and dormitory styled rooms which are available for basic comfort. Coming soon (Fall 2008) - Mercy Corner, which will include meeting accomodations for up to 300 people. The upper section of Mercy Corner will be completed by early 2009 which will sleep another 50 people, providing accomodations for a total of 200 people. Cost
You will not find a more economical and affordable place. U.S. prices - $8 per day per person, all meals included.
Sightseeing
Transportation is available for sightseeing and watching wild life. Over 40 species of birds have been spotted here, as have bison, tigers, elephants, deer, and monkeys. There are numerous picnic spots. One can also visit the famous Ooty Hills by bus, as it is an hour’s journey from Quiet Corner.
Recreation
Basketball, tennis, badminton, volleyball, ping pong, hiking, and fishing. Within the Nilgiris jungle, there is hiking, elephant rides, an elephant feeding program, and much, much more.
